A Brief History of SuperSlow® Systems, Inc.

In 1982, Ken and Brenda Hutchins began supervising the exercise aspect of the Nautilus-sponsored, Osteoporosis research project at the University of Florida Medical School. To safely and effectively exercise the women of this study, they produced the protocol for SuperSlow® Training. It soon became evident that moving slower was more productive in all cases.

In 1992, Ken Hutchins developed the SuperSlow® Exercise Guild and SuperSlow® Certification Program. The purpose of which is to create and maintain a level of instructor competence that is the highest in the industry. SuperSlow® instructors must represent exercise principles and standards and must demonstrate exceptional instructional skills. Approximately 400+ individuals are certified Superslow instructors.

3 Reasons to Lift at SuperSlow® Speed
Written by Ken Hutchins, SuperSlow® Founder

“1. Since safety is primarily affected by force, and force by acceleration, and acceleration by the suddenness of starting, stopping, or changing the direction of movement, slow indicates careful.

2. Since momentum mounts with increased speed, and since momentum unloads the muscles we are trying to load for exercise, slow indicates better loading and hence exercise.

3. Since close study and concentration of muscular contraction is averted with faster movement, then someone serious about a deep and meaningful effect will move very slowly.”
